BTS is searching for backend engineer with skills in Perl and Oracle to join our team. We have an existing, mature infrastructure that includes Perl, Oracle and PHP. This position is dedicated to writing backend code that takes raw data in various formats and transforms it into rows in the database to be consumed by a PHP frontend.

Responsibilities include the following.

• Understanding and synthesizing traffic engineering concepts
• Writing concise design specifications for translating algorithms into Perl code
• Designing and running unit tests
• Troubleshooting and bugfixing
  

Qualified candidates will have the following abilities.

• 5 years experience coding in Perl
• 3 years experience writing queries for a relational database, Oracle preferred
  
• Experience with source code control, Subversion preferred
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write specifications
• Experience with data warehousing a plus
