Build Custom Scenarios

The Traffic Decision Support and Demand Management System provides an integrated way for Traffic Operations personnel to test out capacity preservation strategies in real-time. The system allows users to see not only what the current prediction is on the freeways, but also to formulate their own “what-if” scenarios and to see how those would play out. For example, users can place an incident on a particular section of freeway and then see the effect of different clearance times on upstream and downstream congestion. Alternatively, users can place a special event that would generate a lot of demand at a particular location (on-ramp from a stadium) at some time in the future and see the impact on the corridor.

Leverage Historical Data

The simulations are based upon a combination of historical data and real-time data so they always provide the most accurate estimate of the predicted traffic conditions. Specifically it leverages the historical data archive and the real-time nature of BTS's ADUS in order to support instantaneous simulation.
